MCMAP Martial Arts Instructor (MAI) Written Exam 2 Practice

The three learning domains being addressed are cognitive, psychomotor, and affective. In MAI training, instruction is built to develop what students know, what they can do physically, and how they approach martial arts values and behavior. In practice, this means you present the why and what of a technique (cognitive), guide repeated, precise performance to build muscle memory (psychomotor), and foster discipline, respect, and teamwork during drills and scenarios (affective). For example, when teaching a defensive technique, you explain the principles and safety considerations (cognitive), have students drill the movements with feedback to refine timing and form (psychomotor), and reinforce self-control and responsible decision-making during situational practice (affective). The other groupings describe modes of information or broader aspects, but they don’t capture the full instructional aim of knowledge, skill, and attitude integrated together in MAI training.
